âEuljiro,â which is full of printing house alleys, lights, and signboard stores, is a rustic place, as if you were riding in a time machine. A few years ago, stores that added a unique sensibility to the quaint atmosphere began to appear one by one, and the atmosphere of the neighborhood began to change little by little. The term âEuljiro hipâ, which refers to this atmosphere, came into being, and Euljiro is known as a mecca for hipsters. It's a bit difficult to get there, usually on the upper floor of a building without a proper signboard, but this is also a type of Euljiro hip. Unlike the clunky exterior of the building, a space like your own hideaway unfolds to the point where the moment you open the door bursts out.

1. 'After Jerk Off' in Euljiro, a Hong Kong-style bar with a dreamy atmosphere

âAfter Jerk Offâ, operated by studio brand AJO (AJO), has two charms: a cafe during the day and a bar (bar) at night. The red lighting in the interior, which makes use of the concrete texture, and Buddha statues placed everywhere create a vintage atmosphere. The signature menu âAfter Coffeeâ is an alcoholic coffee made by putting sweet cream on top of Americano containing whiskey. The mild aroma of whiskey is added to the bitter coffee, and you can enjoy the deep flavor. âKimbugak,â which is salty yet has a savory flavor the more you chew, is a favorite snack menu in the evening. Please note that the cafe menu is only available until 7 p.m.
â²Location: 4F, 42-21 Supyo-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
â²Opening hours: Sunday â Thursday 11:30 â 00:00; Friday â Saturday 11:30 â 01:00; closed on Monday
â²Price: After coffee 7,000 won, Kimbugak 10,000 won
â²Testimonial (Be careful when handling food): I went there once during the day and once at night, and the atmosphere was completely different. When I go in the evening, the lights turn on, so the hip vibe is just right. If you're looking for a hip cafe in Euljiro, I definitely recommend this place!
2. Euljiro 'Changhwa Rou', a Chinese meal with a Neutro sensibility

âChanghua Roadâ is a place that was launched as a second brand by âChanghwa-dangâ, famous as a dumpling restaurant. The colorful lanterns that fill the ceiling are causing a wave of certified shots on social media. The signature menu is âmarbled marathang noodles,â which combines spicy mara broth with chewy noodles and marbled noodles. The first time you taste the soup, it's spicy enough to make your tongue twinkle, but the exotic flavor and refreshing aftertaste that follows are appealing. âShaolong Bao,â which has a thin dumpling skin filled with the rich juice of pork, is also a popular menu. I recommend putting the dumplings on a spoon, tearing the dumpling skin slightly with chopsticks, drinking the broth that comes out, then dipping it in soy sauce.
â²Location: 26-1, Eulji-ro 11-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
â²Opening hours: 11:30 â 22:00 every day, B/T 14:30 â 17:00 on weekdays
â²Price: Chadol marathang noodles 11,000 won, Xiaolongbao (5 pieces) 8,000 won
â²Review (Shikigami Yeonjikonji ><): This is a place where you can feel the feeling of eating food, but it's definitely not light. The dumplings were a passing point, and the fried rice and creamy shrimp weren't bad either.
3. 'Red Star' in Euljiro, a late-night restaurant with a rich feel

âRed Starâ, where Chef An Se-joon prepares food with fresh ingredients picked directly from the market every morning, and welcomes customers when a dark evening comes. They have about 50 types of alcoholic beverages, from soju to sake, whiskey, draft beer, cocktails, and wine, and are loved by many lovers. The signature menu, âAged sirloin steak grilled with salt,â is a thick sirloin steak served with mashed potatoes and whole-grain mustard. It is characterized by the fact that aged meat is grilled with bijangtan to further enhance its rich flavor and moist juiciness. As a general rule, they order 1 alcoholic beverage per person, so please note.
â²Location: 48-12 Supyo-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul
â²Opening hours: 18:00 â 00:00 every day, closed on Sundays
â²Price: Aged sirloin steak grilled with salt 22,000 won, cod baccarat and grilled baguette 17,000 won
â²Review (Wild Male Tiger): A gem of a restaurant found in Euljiro. There are so many types of alcohol rather than snacks, so it's a paradise for a judo like me. When I sit at a bar table and eat, I really feel like I'm in a late-night diner from a movie.
4. Euljiro's hidden wine bar, 'Hwadam' in Euljiro

âHwadamâ is located in a building opposite Lotte City Hotel near Exit 1 of Euljiro 3-ga Station. When you walk through the brick-like door, a luxurious yet modern space opens up. A variety of wines are available, including rosé, sweet, white, and red, starting with sparkling, which is easy to enjoy, and is sold by bottle only. As a snack to go with wine, âYeong-ho tteokbokki,â which is a Chinese vermicelli denominator instead of mochi and topped with cream cheese potatoes, is popular as a snack to go with wine. Spicy condiments and sweet cream cheese potatoes blend harmoniously with the addictive sweet-salty flavor and chewy denominator.
â²Location: 3rd Floor, 14, Eulji-ro 9-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
â²Opening hours: 17:00 â 01:00 every day, closed on Sundays
â²Price: Yeong-ho and tteokbokki 15,500 won, mom's hand sandwich 13,000 won
â²Review (Shikigami Sujhat): It looked like a wine bar, but it was a bit burdensome because the snacks were too expensive, but it's a good idea to try this and that because it's cheap here. The name of the snack is so funny, but there are so many unique menus that I haven't tasted anywhere else, so it's fun to pick and eat!
5. Hip Neapolitan Hwadok Pizza, 'Kyung Il-ok Pizzeria'

âKyung Il-ok Pizzeriaâ is named after âKyung Il-ok,â a Seolleungtang restaurant that the boss's father ran during his lifetime. We offer high quality wood-fired pizza based on our experience in Rome, Naples, and New York. The signature menu âAlto Verdeâ catches the eye with the visuals of putting lots of fresh arugula on top of the pizza dough. It is characterized by its light flavor because it is seasoned only with two types of cheese, grana padano, and ricotta without cream or tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. The chewy yet salty pizza dough and fresh arugula finish off the final flavor. âCarbonara,â which has an excellent rich sauce flavored with egg yolk and fresh cream, is also a favorite with pizza.
â²Location: 2-1 Eulji-ro 16-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
â²Opening hours: 11:30 â 21:00 every day, B/T (weekdays) 15:00 â 17:00, closed on Sundays
â²Price: Alto Verde 22,000 won, carbonara 14,000 won
â²Review (Shikigami HIPSONG â¥): The owner-chef, who has won prizes at the Naples World Pizza Contest, is a newly opened fire pit pizza specialty store that uses firewood to bake pizza. The light pizza flavor is excellent.
