There are moments when I think of places my parents visited hand in hand when I was a kid, or old restaurants where I had fun eating with my friends when I was a student. It continues to have the same taste in one place before and now, and evokes fond memories for those who visit again and again. From handmade sundae filled with the owner's warmth, to a Japanese-style restaurant that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time to the 80s, and plain shaved ice with a quaint feel! Here are 5 of the best restaurants with 100 years of lasting memories.
1. 'Dongyang Sundae' in Yeongju Sundae Alley, Yeongju Yeongju-dong
âDongyang Sundaeâ first started selling handmade sundae at Sundae Alley in Yeongju 365 Market. It is loved by nearby residents because of its low price and the warm atmosphere of the market. The signature menu, âAssorted Sundae,â is served on a plate with plenty of sundae, head meat, and entrails cut into large pieces.
The sundae filled with beef, which is made by mixing about 10 ingredients such as chives, carrots, and vermicelli, has a slight spiciness at the end and at the same time provides a refreshing aftertaste. It's fun to choose a different flavor and texture for each part of the offal, such as soft-boiled head meat, badger, and liver.

â²Testimonial (Dim Sundae): The amount of sundae in the platter is so large that I wonder if there's anything left over if I give it at this price. Sundae is also homemade, so it's not tough and chewy, so it's very tasty. The offal hot pot I ordered at the table next door also had a huge amount of offal in it, but next time I'll try the giblets hot pot!
2. âMarronnierâ in Seoin-dong, Anseong, a Japanese-style restaurant full of retro sensibility

âMarronnierâ is a restaurant where you can find a variety of Japanese food, such as pork cutlet, omelette, hamburger steak, and spaghetti. The interior of the store, decorated with furniture with quaint patterns drawn in a wooden interior, exudes a retro sensibility. If you order a meal, a hot mushroom soup will be served to gently soothe your empty stomach.
The signature menu is âhorse chestnut tonkatsu,â made by beating thinly sliced pork with a hammer, covered with batter, and deep-fried until crispy. The sauce made by adding fruits, herbs, and vegetables to the beef bone broth penetrates deep into the meat, adding a moist texture and sweet and sour flavor. The âLunch Set Meal,â where you can enjoy the popular menu pork cutlet, fish cutlet, and hamburger steak all at once, is also sold only at lunchtime.
â²Location: 22-3, Janggi-ro 45beon-gil, Anseong, Gyeonggi

â²Price: Horse chestnut pork cutlet 9,000 won, lunch set meal 11,000 won
â²Testimonial (Peanut Sandmaizen): The exterior of the building has a completely retro feel, but when you go inside, it's completely spacious and clean. The fact that kakuteki and pickled daikon are served as side dishes is perfect! The pork cutlet was quick on the outside, but it was nice that the meat was soft, and the fried rice inside the omelette was well stir-fried, so it went well with the egg batter.

âThe main branch of Yongho-dong Halmae shaved red bean paste soup started in 1976 as a small shop selling ice cream and rice wine.â There is a rumor that the red bean paste in taiyaki, which was only available during the winter season, is delicious, and they have been specializing in food using adzuki beans.
The signature menu, âshaved ice,â is made by putting a round of milk on ice that has been grindly ground with an ice shaker, and then putting plenty of red bean paste and apple jam directly on it. The red bean paste made by boiling adzuki beans three times has a mild sweetness, so you can empty a bowl without feeling burdened. Apple jam, which has a crunchy texture from apple grains, adds a fresh flavor to shaved water and goes harmoniously.

â²Testimonial (Shikushin Sun-chan): Gently dripping sweet apple jam on a thick layer of adzuki beans, and when the ice melts, you rub it off, so a slurp one-shot is the best value for money. It's delicious. Hmm, if I were close, I would go there every day, but if I really go and eat it every time I think of it, it melts in a flash.
4. Stay safe at an affordable price! Daejeon Jungang-ro Underground Shopping District Bank-dong 'SHIJU'

There are 11 types available, from âfresh cream,â which makes use of the sweet flavor of fresh cream and apple jam, to âbrown sugar,â âyogurt,â âchocolate,â and âsausage,â so it's fun to choose and eat according to your taste. â²Testimonial (Daily Diet): When I was a kid, I used to stop by and eat when I was hungry after school, but even now, many students see that because the prices are still cheap. I don't have to worry if I let them eat everything they want. Waffles are always eaten with fresh cream, and it's a basic combination, but it's a classic waffle flavor from the olden days.

âJilgogae Sambapâ has been competing with a single sambap menu for 20 years. If you order a meal according to the number of people, 15 kinds of wrapped vegetables, such as lettuce, sesame leaves, angelica, Chinese cabbage, chives, and chicory, as well as thick sliced pork ribs, savory miso stew, and neat side dishes will be served up.
The savory flavor and chewy texture of samgyeopsal, which is made from sows slaughtered on the same day, captivates the palate. If you dip a ripe pork belly into a fresh wrapped vegetable and samjang made with homemade meju, you can enjoy the rich texture that fills your mouth. It is also a delicacy when eaten with bean sprouts and jelly beans cooked together on a grill as a side dish.
â²Location: 55 Yongdu-daero 31-gil, Jecheon, Chungbuk
â²Opening hours: 11:00 â 21:00 every day, closed on the 2nd and 4th Sunday
â²Price: Sambap 12,000 won, samgyeopsal 13,000 won
â²Testimonial (Meatballs are meat dishes): Real restaurants only sell signature dishes without anything else, but this is exactly what it feels like! There were a lot of wrapped vegetables at the beginning, but it was nice to have plenty of refills if they weren't enough. I really liked that the samjang here had a strangely addictive flavor that made me think of it even at home. Samgyeopsal is included in sambap, but you can add it if you don't have enough!
