Ulsan is Korea's top three port cities, a coastal city, and the largest industrial city in Korea. People from all over the country have gathered and many restaurants have sprung up, but the places I'm going to introduce today are those that have been in business for over 30 years and have been selected as âHundred Year Stores.â Here are five hundred year old restaurants that have been loved by the citizens of Ulsan for their friendly service, taste, and value for money.
A piece of chewy sashimi, âJeong Ja Samiâ
Sashimi is made using natural sashimi that comes directly from Jeongja Port. Participants are fish species that live in cold water at 8 to 9 degrees Celsius, so they are characterized by their firm and chewy meat. If you wrap a piece of finely rolled flounder sashimi with white kimchi, the chewy, sweet-tasting sour taste will provide the best flavor. Also, this place is health-conscious, where condiments are kept to a minimum, and health-conscious, low-salt dishes are preferred.
âBottled Fresh Seafood Sauce,â which I developed under my own name, is a signature menu that has even completed patent registration for a seafood sauce using salted sea urchin. Fresh, colorful vegetables are cut into small pieces and mixed with a variety of live seafood, including sea cucumber, sea cucumber, sea bream, conch, and abalone. You can enjoy delicacies that fill your mouth with the salty smell of the sea.
â²Location: 3 Wangsaeng-ro 45beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan
â²Business hours: 11:00 ~ 00:00
â²Price: Miso sashimi for participants (small) 50,000 won, bottled mother and seafood sauce (medium) 50,000 won
â²Review (Shikigami Twinkle Twinkle): A restaurant that everyone in the neighborhood knows… It's a great place to roll up a cup of soba for participants at a rice party.
Suam Market 'Chondang' is a great value for money where you can enjoy top-quality meat at butcher prices
Suam Market is famous for its beef, but it is also famous as a gourmet restaurant. They sell various types of meat, such as pork tenderloin, tenderloin, and ribs. It's a meat restaurant where you pick meat from the first floor and go to the restaurant inside to eat it. They sell not only beef but also pork and marinated ribs, so you can enjoy them according to your preferences.
As a first point, I recommend eating high-grade beef that is slightly cooked over charcoal and only then dipped in salt. After that, there are about a dozen side dishes that go well with the meat, so I recommend tasting them one by one. The cool beef gukbap is also very popular as a meal menu.
â²Location: 23, Suam-ro 90beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan
â²Business hours: 10:00 to 22:00

â²Testimonial (Shikigin Wonnaschan lol): It was a sit-down meal, so it was great to take the babies. The meat is really delicious. Did you do a good job of aging… If you try it here, you won't be able to do anything else
'Gungjung Samgyetang' in Seongnam-dong, a clear and light healthy soup
A place that has been in business for nearly 50 years in the food alley and showcases samgyetang. The interior and exterior of the store are full of nostalgia, as evidenced by the years. The feature is that when you sit down, they serve a cup of ginseng wine to go with stir-fried chicken dung and samgyetang. Side dishes are simple side dishes with red pepper, kakuteki, and cucumber sauce that go well with samgyetang.
They sell samgyetang, abalone samgyetang, and lacquer samgyetang using only natural condiments. The soup is clear and mild, and has no likes or dislikes. The chicken is cooked slowly and gently loosens with chopsticks. Abalone porridge made from abalone sent directly from Jinan is also a delicacy.
â²Location: 6 Food Street, Jung-gu, Ulsan
â²Business hours: 10:00 to 22:00
â²Price: Samgyetang 14,000 won, abalone samgyetang 21,000 won, abalone porridge 15,000 won
â²Review (Fresh Lemon.): A Korean restaurant famous for samgyetang and abalone porridge^, .^ The meat is not thick and the soup has a refreshing flavor~
Traditional Chinese cuisine specialty store, âGreat Wall of Chinaâ in Sinjeong-dong
A Chinese restaurant located near Ulsan Industrial Tower. Round tables unique to Chinese restaurants are arranged comfortably in the spacious interior. Every day, the menu of the day named âspecialtyâ is posted, so you can enjoy it fresh and at a reasonable price.
Since it has been loved by Ulsan residents for a long time, the food is not very fried and has a popular flavor. The flavors of the meat cut into large pieces, fresh vegetables, and the smooth sauce make it possible to enjoy a high quality meal no matter when you visit. The cooking menu is also popular, and âjeon ga-bok,â which is prepared with a variety of fresh seafood, has a perfect balance of chewy texture and salty sauce.

â²Testimonial (dysphoria after eating): There are so many customers at lunchtime… The food is plentiful and delicious, so it's perfect for a dinner party.
'Garden Restaurant' in Seongnam-dong, a place with delicious hot pot cooked with care
Just a short walk from the clock tower in Seongnam-dong, you'll find a garden restaurant with a simple exterior. If you pass through the signboard and go inside, you'll see the entrance to the store along with a well-maintained green garden. The scent of a long history permeates every corner of the renovated house. Nevertheless, the furniture and tableware are finely polished, as if representing the owner's clean personality.
This place sells grilled Korean beef sirloin and various types of hot pot, and they buy and use fresh ingredients themselves every day and cook rice three times a day based on the representative's management philosophy of âserving food eaten by the family.â The signature dish, Korean beef hot pot, is deeply moved by the fresh flavor of the soup that comes from the ingredients.
â²Location: 91-1 Hakseong-ro, Jung-gu, Ulsan
â²Business hours: 10:00 to 21:00
â²Price: Korean beef hot pot 14,000 won, octopus giblets hot pot 10,000 won, set meal 9,000 won
â²Testimonial (Mary Jane â¡): A quiet and clean place I often visit. The room was separated by a sliding door, so I was able to look for it a little more at times like these days. It's also great for visiting with kids.
