korean food / seoul / 5 best small restaurants in the market and traditional market restaurants – 2843

If the stores that fill the market alley early in the morning place their own items on the stalls, it's a market where you don't know how much time passes by looking all over the place. The traditional market, which is a paradise with lots of food, such as dumplings with the smell of oil and water vapor, is truly the best theme park. Let's take a look at Seoul's traditional markets that have been breathing with the common people for years, and the jewels hidden in them.

1. 'Chicken Delicacies Gangwon House' at Namdaemun Market, a hearty chicken gomguk soup flavored with Nogye-ro

A chicken gomguk soup specialty store that has been in business since 1962. It is also called chicken delicacy, and it is also called Gangwon Restaurant. You can enjoy chicken gomguk soup cooked slowly in Nogye. Chicken gomguk soup must be cooked in a row rather than a young broth for the soup to come out properly. Chan serves a soy sauce seasoning for dipping kakuteki, kimchi, garlic, and chicken, but if you tear off the chicken and dip it in this soy sauce, it blends harmoniously.

[Eating tips]

▲Location: 22-20 Namdaemunsijang-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul

▲Business hours: 07:00 to 21:00 (closed every Sunday)

▲Price: Chicken gomguk soup 9,000 won, meat white rice 10,000 won

▲Review (Shikigami Bangwol): A shop suitable for a market alley. People who haven't tried it don't know the taste and flavor. Adding makgeolli on a rainy day is a icing on the cake.

2. “Seokgyo Restaurant” at Seodaemun Yeongcheon Market, a sundae soup loved by the common people

Sundae Gukjip loved by Yeongcheon Market merchants and office workers. As proof of time, the restaurant's interior is filled with faded celebrity signatures. The broth made from pork entrails, head meat, and beef bones has a refreshing flavor without any impurities. The temperature that comes out of boiling is also good. The crunchy flavor of kakuteki, kimchi, and chopped peppers go very well with sundae soup.

[Eating tips]

▲Location: 183-1 Tongil-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

▲Business hours: 09:30 to 22:00 (closed on Wednesday for 1 and 3 weeks)

▲Price: Sundae soup 9,000 won, internal soup 10,000 won, native sundae (large) 14,000 won

▲Testimonial (Angel of Death): Sundae Guk is the best. Local sundae and pork! If it's close, it's a place where you want to eat and take care of yourself once a week.

Cheongnyang-ri Gyeongdong Market has many things to see. The basement of the new building, where the Youth Mall is located, is filled with the delicious smell of several restaurants. Among them, Andongjip is a long-established store that attracts regulars. You can sit anywhere you like, between a charming bar seat or a clean interior. It contains chewy noodles and Chinese cabbage garnish made by adding soybean powder to a thick liver broth flavored with vegetables. You can eat seasoned soy sauce according to your taste.

[Eating tips]

▲Location: B1F, 3 Gosanja-ro 36-gil, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul

▲Business hours: 09:00 to 20:00 (closed on Sundays for 1 and 3 weeks)

▲Price: 7,000 won for Songuk, 7,000 won for Konjin-guk, 7,000 won for Chinese cabbage, 10,000 won for pork

▲Testimonial (Shikigin SONZ1993): The soup has a boring flavor like a small amount of anchovies added to vegetables, but the flavor changes when eaten with seasoning and soy sauce. It's delicious. Freshly cooked cabbage soup is sweet and nice.

4. Kamaboko soup that reminds me even more of a rainy day, 'Busan Kamabok' at Yongsan Yongmun Market

A place with a fish cake stand that makes you stop visiting once in a while walking through Yongmun Market's alley. For a low price of 4,000 won for one serving of kamaboko, they put soft, ripe mochi in the kamaboko soup along with the kamaboko soup. It's not rice cake, but it's Busan-style rice cake. The broth has a strong flavor, and the salinity is just right when eaten with mochi. Even if you stand in front of a seat and eat a kamaboko skewer, it's delicious.

[Eating tips]

▲Location: 6, Hyochangwon-ro 42-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

▲Business hours: 09:00 to 22:00

▲Price: Fish cake 4,000 won (packed), tteokbokki 4,000 won, fish cake skewers 600 won to 800 won

▲Review (No. 202, Shikishin 202-dong): The fish cake soup costs 4,000, but the composition is great. They gave me a full bowl. It contains mochi, which is very tasty.

5. “Bonghwa Mukjip” at Jeongneung Arirang Market, a soba that looks like it was tasted at grandma's house

A renovated house with the feel of a rural grandmother's house. The feeling for the customer is evident from the warm cup of tea served as soon as you sit down. You can choose between cold and warm soba, but the soup is the same and only the temperature is different. Pour the anchovy broth over the plain cut paste, add kimchi and seaweed, stir, and eat. You can also order jo-bap, roll it in soup, and enjoy it as rice cake.

[Eating tips]

▲Location: 46-2, Arirang-ro 19-gil, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul

▲Business hours: 11:00 to 19:00 (closed every Monday)

▲Price: Soba noodles 7,000 won, dumplings (steamed or soup) 7,000 won, Chinese cabbage chives 6,000 won, breakfast 1,000 won

▲Review (Shikigami 52666): A restaurant my mom brought me! After all, the moms are trying to find out what is delicious. I liked the rice cake.
