At one time, Myeongdong was one of the commercial areas that was not popular among Koreans, as many foreigners, including the Chinese tourist Youker, made up a large number of visitors. However, Myeongdong, which had been dazed for a while after the pandemic, is changing. A welcome rise in Myeongdong, which has a modern yet traditional style! Here are five restaurants that have seen a sharp rise in search volume in Myeongdong recently.
1. Enjoy the feeling of an Italian cafe with a view of a cathedral, âMalto Italian Espresso Barâ

A cafe where you can enjoy cappuccino and croissants while sitting on the terrace with a view of Myeongdong Cathedral right in front of you. When you take a bite of a rich, soft, savory espresso, you feel like you've come to an open-air cafe in front of a cathedral during a trip to Italy. The dessert âcanoncini,â which contains cream puffs, hazelnuts, and pistachios in a crispy pastry, is also very popular.

â²Testimonial (Shikigami Salad Anniversary): Both espresso and dessert were delicious. First of all, the view doesn't look like Korea. It's really cool. The weather is nice these days, so the view from the terrace seats was even better. The terrace needs some weighting~
2. The best video Chinese restaurant in Myeongdong, where celebrities continue to visit, Shandong gyoza

A Chinese restaurant that has been operating in front of the Chinese Embassy in Myeongdong for over 40 years. It is a place run by a Chinese school where you can enjoy the cuisine of mainland China. Recently, when Seong Si-gyeong introduced it on her YouTube channel, it became even more popular. As the name of the restaurant suggests, it's a good idea to order gyoza, but I recommend both the deep-fried gyoza on the outside and the chewy water gyoza. Five-flavored pork and tempura, which is deep-fried meat, are also popular.

The Korean branch of a chain of okonomiyaki specialty stores that operates around 100 stores throughout Japan. The signature menu is Osaka-style okonomiyaki, where you choose your favorite ingredients, put them on top of the cabbage and dough, grill them directly on the iron plate in front of the table, and add a special sauce. Special egg noodles and yakisoba with various ingredients stir-fried in yakisoba sauce on an iron plate are also popular.

4. A bowl of slurping noodles, a bowl of gongshi-myeon

From the outside, Kongshi Mian Guan is impressive with an overwhelming force that seems to have come to an alley in China. Doshaku noodles made by cutting large chunks of flour dough with a knife and then boiling them right away are famous. The length of the noodles is short compared to regular noodle dishes, but the texture is unique when they are chewy and slurred. âSorongpo,â which is full of gravy, and âgarlic kanpunggi,â which has an impressive texture, are also popular.

â²Testimonial (Serena, the god of food): This is a place I stop by when I think of marathans. Even though it's not spicy, it's a good place for spicy, Chinese-style marathang. Also, the quality of Sharongpao is excellent, so it's a good idea to eat a combination of the two.
5. Menten, ramen eaten in line, recognized by Michelin
ryuchelin.guide's Instagram
A small ramen shop close to Myeongdong Station. It's run by a single chef, so be sure to visit with a relaxed mind. The square table layout is both efficient and has a cute feel. There are two types on the menu: soy sauce ramen and tantan noodles, and the soy sauce ramen topped with sous vide chicken breast, pork chashu, and bamboo shoots has a refreshing and luxurious flavor.
