korean food / seoul / 5 best places to eat in Bukchon, the flavors of Seoul hidden in a hanok – 2980

From quiet hanok houses, small winding alleyways, bright views of Seoul from high hillsides, and small restaurants and cafes. Bukchon in Seoul is a place where tradition and modernity can be found in the closest way. This week, I'm going to introduce five good places to visit in Bukchon that are easy to find with good people.

1. Kimchi confectionery dining with wine, 'On 6.5'

The elegant and modern exterior of the hanok, which looks like a gallery, is an eye-catching place. The interior, which has a linear sense of space based on brightly colored wood, is also stylish and comfortable. All foods are made based on kimchi recipes, so you can add traditional sake or wine to a variety of different dishes. I'm happy with the unique transformation of kimchi, such as “Chinese cabbage wrap,” which is made from minced pork, red pepper, and bellflower kimchi wrapped in large Chinese cabbage leaves instead of dumpling skin and pouring sauce, and “pumpkin noodles,” where the fiber in the pumpkin is mixed with rose sauce and topped with jamon and cucumber kimchi as garnishes.

â–²Business hours: Weekdays 17:30 – 23:00, weekends/holidays 15:00 – 23:00

â–²Price: Pumpkin noodles 19,000 won, Chinese cabbage rolls 19,000 won, abalone, kimchi, and gimbap 18,000 won

â–²Testimonial (Shikigin Ukiki 9212): Pumpkin noodles and Chinese cabbage rolls were really unusual because they were the first foods I had eaten in my life. Basically, it's important to note that alcoholic beverages are essential since they have liver. I think it would be nice when a foreign guest comes

2. “Jeongdam Eun Bossam,” a clean bosam you can enjoy in a hanok

A place where you can enjoy bosam with traditional makgeolli in a quiet hanok. Bossamjip is a familiar and popular menu, but the clean and modern plating and atmosphere play a part. Oyster bosam, which is delivered directly every day within 24 hours of producing Tongyeong oysters, is popular as a winter limited menu. Seaweed is provided along with wrapped vegetables, so it's great to wrap it with meat.

â–²Business hours: Weekdays 11:00-22:00, weekends 11:00-21:00

â–²Testimonial (I'm glad you took a break): First of all, it's nice that the atmosphere is so quiet. The main bosam seems to have been boiled to make good use of its juiciness. The kimchi also came out very clean and was nice to look at. I feel like I'm being treated to a clean meal.

A large-scale cafe, which is rare in Bukchon, where there are many cute stores. There are photo zones for taking pictures all over the 1st and 2nd floor. Brunch menus such as sandwiches, hot dogs, and salads are available, with a focus on pretzels. The pretzel, which has a unique, chewy texture and light flavor, is a must-try menu. The seating arrangement is spacious, so you can enjoy a comfortable break.

A popular restaurant that always has a wait of at least 30 minutes. Every morning, they sell simple homemade dumplings, kishimen noodles, and yukjeon. It is characterized by using aged batter to remove the skin of the dumpling and kishimen without spreading and making the chewy texture stand out. “Kalmandu,” which contains kale noodles and gyoza in beef bone broth that has been brewed for 12 hours or more, is the signature menu, and the rich, soft broth with a rich meat flavor fills the inside with a warm filling. “Bibimguksu,” which is topped with yukjeon mixed with a sour sauce, is also a delicacy.

â–²Review (Shikigami 541839): I ate Kalmandu and Bibimguksu. Hehe, the light and clean dumplings were made by hand, and they were fast and delicious! Above all, the boss and aunt were very kind…

If you walk along the street not far from Anguk Station, you'll find a cafe with an exotic atmosphere. It's a small space, but it's always bustling with customers because of its atmosphere. The signature is “Butler Spanner,” an Einspanner. Coffee, milk, and cream are placed in a wine glass, and the area around the glass is frosted with sugar, making it as beautiful as if you were looking at a cocktail. The unique heavy viscosity and bittersweet yet savory flavor of coffee provide a pleasant relaxation.

[Eating tips]

â–²Location: 8 Bukchon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

â–²Business hours: 08:00 – 22:00 on weekdays, 10:00 – 22:00 on weekends

â–²Price: Americano 5,000 won, Butler Spanner 7,000 won, Butler Double Shot 7,000 won

â–²Testimonial (Pretty Boy): I went in because the signboard was beautiful, but Einspanner really exceeded my expectations. It came out in a wine glass and the picture came out pretty. A place where you can fully understand why it's so popular!
