Then, when the door to the destination opens after suffering on the subway like a bean sprout, it pours out like belly fat from me having just unfastened my belt.

At the end of Tenshin Go, I arrived at the office safely. As soon as you turn on the computer, ask the staff next to you. “What shall we have for lunch today?”

Life is a series of endless conflicts and choices, but many people will sympathize with the fact that the time an office worker falls into the most anguish is lunch time. This is especially true if you're the youngest member of the organization. A long time ago, when I was the youngest, choosing a lunchtime menu was very stressful. “My youngest, what should I eat for lunch today?” This is because it wasn't very difficult to catch the boss's mood and match the restaurant the boss wanted to go to by combining the weather of the day and the restaurant he had eaten recently to answer the question (the answer is fixed, you only need to answer). I had a lucky day once in a while, but most days I had to listen to “I didn't notice.”

If I remember the lunch menu I often ate, they were sundae soup, pork cutlet, haejang soup, bean sprouts gukbap, seolleungtang, and pork ribs. (I went to so many sundae soup that I was really hungry) Then, sometimes, very occasionally, I went to a kimchi stew restaurant. There were 3 or 4 sundae soup restaurants near the company, but there was only one kimchi stew restaurant. I grew up under my parents who cooked kimchi stew with water like a river, so the kimchi stew at that restaurant was very tasty, but I don't think my boss felt the same way.

“How about kimchi stew for lunch today?” If you say, “Kimchi stew? It's something you eat every day.” The answer used to come back.

Kimchi stew, which is so familiar to Koreans, was completely defeated in the lunch menu competition because of its familiarity.

While preparing for the knight restaurant road, I researched the menus of many knight restaurants. After all, this was pork ribs, Korean buffet, and pork cutlet. Then I found this place. “Jangdokdae Kimchi Jjigae” is a kimchi stew specialty store.

Jangdokdae Kimchi Jjigae is located at the southern intersection of Yeongdong Bridge. It opened in 2003 and has been selling kimchi stew in one place for 12 years this year. Beginning with the success of Cheongdam branch, branches also sprung up in Yeouido and Yeoksam. However, this Cheongdam main store is the only one that has the name “Knight's Restaurant.”

I visited early in the morning to start my day with a kimchi stew before work, and it was quiet. This is the best place that is open 24 hours a day. You can visit at any time regardless of the store's operating hours.

This place became famous thanks to its 24-hour operation, not only taxi drivers who stop by at any time, but also famous clubs such as Luina and Anser are nearby, so there is not a small number of people who have fun and come to settle for a late meal. Also, entertainment agencies, including JYP, are crowded, and I hear that celebrities often appear around dawn. (The famous Dawn House right across the street also has the same history) Probably the only place where you can see celebrities at Knight Restaurant.

When I sat down and looked around, every wall was full of celebrity signatures. The color of the sign had faded a bit, but when I asked, I received a nonchalant answer that they were no longer doing promotional activities and that they were just leaving what was already attached.

As you nod your head, the food is prepared at a fast speed. It's nice that the knight restaurant's speed was slow, but the mulgun kimchi stew before cooking had a slight effect of reducing appetite… Quickly drop in the ramen sari and start simmering.

The kimchi stew here is a bit unique. In general, places that have received word of mouth that kimchi stew are good at frying kimchi in oil and pouring water or broth to create a unique greasy and full soup flavor, but Jangdokdae kimchi stew had a rich, clean state of the broth before boiling without a drop of oil. Kimchi seems to have just the right amount of moisture squeezed out (?) Do it. When I first saw it, I was wondering for a moment, “How long should I cook this to get the flavor?”

However, when I looked inside, there were quite a few pieces of meat that seemed to have a high percentage of scaffolding. When it's simmered over high heat, the oil starts to pour out. If you add ramen sari when you want the soup to be edible to a certain extent, it will boil slightly and change to a texture that is easy to eat.

At this point, there's a tip for Jangdokdae kimchi stew. It's about using kamaboko as a side dish. You can just pick up the fish paste that is simply seasoned with basic condiments, but they are usually eaten in jjigae here. When fish paste is added and simmered, it slowly starts to have a slightly rich flavor like Budae Jjjigae. I think of the broth that was in a blurry state at the beginning, and we did a great job (saving the dying stew…) I'm starting to feel the same way. Actually, I just did what the restaurant told me to do…

When I took a bite of this finished stew, it felt a little lighter than a regular kimchi stew. However, thanks to this, I felt relaxed without feeling inside. It was disappointing that the amount of meat contained slightly less than what you'd think of when you think of “pork kimchi stew,” but it wasn't bad because it contained plenty of tofu, which I personally like. Unfortunately, I knew they used domestic meat, but they switched to using American pork. Probably because of this, the meat has a slight pork smell. It's not terribly annoying, but it's still a bummer. It's not a place I intentionally visited from far away, and I feel like I would have visited it often if I had been nearby.

Driver restaurants must maintain a low price and fast serving speed even though they have a large parking lot. Therefore, it is even more difficult to maintain a knight restaurant in Gangnam. Jangdokdae Kimchi Jjigae is one of the few restaurants where taxi drivers can stay. Also, it's not a stable business item like sundae soup or Haejang soup. I want to give points in that area.

From taxi drivers who are tired of being at a small restaurant, to foreigners with yellow hair who seem to have come for breakfast after looking for a hotel, and customers who have come to Haejang. There are so many different people coming and going. Like this restaurant's kimchi stew mixed with kimchi, pork, fish paste, and ramen.
